Note that in Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 5 there is more than one way of doing this, so you only need to choose one of the methods listed.

This feature allows you to browse the Internet without storing local data that could be retrieved at a later date, such as your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and usernames and passwords. Keep in mind that private browsing offers virtually no protection beyond the local level -- for example, the websites you have visited will still be able to view your IP address on the server end and log your activity.

Internet Explorer-8

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 167px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I3vrnPO-bgU/TC7nrijwqKI/AAAAAAAAAH8/h-fUSaZkYqM/s400/int8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489579731008399522" />

Right click your IE shortcut icon > Properties > add -private after the text in the Target box and click OK.

FireFox 3.6

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 167px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_I3vrnPO-bgU/TC7n0JLg7NI/AAAAAAAAAIE/LIPAFJlv08w/s400/int_firefox.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489579878814641362" />

•Method 1: Open Firefox, click Tools > Options > click the History drop-down box and select Use custom settings for history > toggle Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session and click OK.

•Method 2: Open Firefox, enter about:config in the address bar > filter browser.privatebrowsing.autostart > double click on the entry to make it true and close the tab.

•Method 3: Right click your Firefox shortcut icon > Properties > add -private after the text in the Target box and click OK.

Opera 10.5

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 211px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_I3vrnPO-bgU/TC7n8oQ77PI/AAAAAAAAAIM/KeW8gBu4V8U/s400/int_opera.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489580024597834994" />

•Right click your Opera shortcut icon > Properties > add -newprivatetab after the text in the Target box and click OK

Note that, you probably don't want to run your main browser in private mode permanently, but it could be useful to have a secondary browser already configured to run without a trace for those times when you need to go dark. Chances are you have at least two browsers installed on your system anyhow.

A List of Common Default Router IP Addresses

You are trying to fix a relative's network issues and you need to access their router's browser interface. We've all been there, fruitlessly pecking in combinations of 192.168.x.x. Unless you have every default router address memorized, you'll eventually encounter one that stumps you.

When that happens, you can typically find the information with a simple command on Windows. Open the command prompt (Start > Run/Search for cmd) and then enter ipconfig. The address you need should be next to Default Gateway under your Local Area Connection, and it will often begin with 192.168.

If for any reason you can't retrieve the router's IP address using that method, I've compiled a brief list of popular router brands and their common default addresses. Instead, mix upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols. A password should have at least eight characters. One good technique is to insert numbers or symbols in the middle of a word, such as this variant on the word "houses": hO27usEs!

2.Leaving Your Full Birth Date in Your Profile
It's an ideal target for identity thieves, who could use it to obtain more information about you and potentially gain access to your bank or credit card account. If you've already entered a birth date, go to your profile page and click on the Info tab, then on Edit Information. Under the Basic Information section, choose to show only the month and day or no birthday at all.

3.Overlooking Useful Privacy Controls
For almost everything in your Facebook profile, you can limit access to only your friends, friends of friends, or yourself. Restrict access to photos, birth date, religious views, and family information, among other things. You can give only certain people or groups access to items such as photos, or block particular people from seeing them. Consider leaving out contact info, such as phone number and address, since you probably don't want anyone to have access to that information anyway.

4.Posting Your Child's Name in a Caption
Don't use a child's name in photo tags or captions. If someone else does, delete it by clicking on Remove Tag. If your child isn't on Facebook and someone includes his or her name in a caption, ask that person to remove the name.

5.Mentioning That You'll Be Away From Home
That's like putting a "no one's home" sign on your door. Wait until you get home to tell everyone how awesome your vacation was and be vague about the date of any trip.

6.Letting Search Engines Find You
To help prevent strangers from accessing your page, go to the Search section of Facebook's privacy controls and select Only Friends for Facebook search results. Be sure the box for public search results isn't checked.

7.Permitting Youngsters to Use Facebook Unsupervised
Facebook limits its members to ages 13 and over, but children younger than that do use it. If you have a young child or teenager on Facebook, the best way to provide oversight is to become one of their online friends. Use your e-mail address as the contact for their account so that you receive their notifications and monitor their activities. "What they think is nothing can actually be pretty serious," says Charles Pavelites, a supervisory special agent at the Internet Crime Complaint Center. For example, a child who posts the comment "Mom will be home soon, I need to do the dishes" every day at the same time is revealing too much about the parents' regular comings and goings.

I too got few changes in my facebook account after reading this post in Yahoo. Sometimes they're not the best choice.

Sometimes reaching for your wallet is like a multiple choice test: How do you really want to pay?

While credit cards and debit cards may look almost identical, not all plastic is the same.

"It's important that consumers understand the difference between a debit card and a credit card," says John Breyault, director of the Fraud Center for the National Consumers League, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group. "There's a difference in how the transactions are processed and the protections offered to consumers when they use them."

While debit cards and credit cards each have advantages, each is also better suited to certain situations. And since a debit card is a direct line to your bank account, there are places where it can be wise to avoid handing it over -- if for no other reason than complete peace of mind.

Here are 10 places and situations where it can pay to leave that debit card in your wallet:

1. Online

"You don't use a debit card online," says Susan Tiffany, director of consumer periodicals for the Credit Union National Association. Since the debit card links directly to a checking account, "you have potential vulnerability there," she says.

Her reasoning: If you have problems with a purchase or the card number gets hijacked, a debit card is "vulnerable because it happens to be linked to an account," says Linda Foley, founder of the Identity Theft Resource Center. She also includes phone orders in this category.

The Federal Reserve's Regulation E (commonly dubbed Reg E), covers debit card transfers. It sets a consumer's liability for fraudulent purchases at $50, provided they notify the bank within two days of discovering that their card or card number has been stolen.

Most banks have additional voluntary policies that set their own customers' liability with debit cards at $0, says Nessa Feddis, vice president and senior counsel for the American Bankers Association.

But the protections don't relieve consumers of hassle: The prospect of trying to get money put back into their bank account, and the problems that a lower-than-expected balance can cause in terms of fees and refused checks or payments, make some online shoppers reach first for credit cards.

2. Big-Ticket Items

With a big ticket item, a credit card is safer, says Chi Chi Wu, staff attorney with the National Consumer Law Center. A credit card offers dispute rights if something goes wrong with the merchandise or the purchase, she says.
With a debit card, you have fewer protections," she says.

In addition, some cards will also offer extended warrantees. And in some situations, such as buying electronics or renting a car, some credit cards also offer additional property insurance to cover the item.

Two caveats, says Wu. Don't carry a balance. Otherwise, you also risk paying some high-ticket interest. And "avoid store cards with deferred interest," Wu advises.

3. Deposit Required

When Peter Garuccio recently rented some home improvement equipment at a big-box store, it required a sizable deposit. "This is where you want to use a credit card instead of a debit," says Garuccio, spokesman for the national trade group American Bankers Association.

That way, the store has its security deposit, and you still have access to all of the money in your bank account. With any luck, you'll never actually have to part with a dollar.

4. Restaurants

"To me, it's dangerous," says Gary Foreman, editor of the frugality minded Web site The Dollar Stretcher. "You have so many people around."
Foreman bases his conclusions on what he hears from readers. "Anecdotally, the cases that I'm hearing of credit or debit information being stolen, as often as not, it's in a restaurant," he says.

The danger: Restaurants are one of the few places where you have to let cards leave your sight when you use them. But others think that avoiding such situations is not workable.

The "conventional advice of 'don't let the card out of your sight' -- that's just not practical," says Tiffany.

The other problem with using a debit card at restaurants: Some establishments will approve the card for more than your purchase amount because, presumably, you intend to leave a tip. So the amount of money frozen for the transaction could be quite a bit more than the amount of your tab. And it could be a few days before you get the cash back in your account.

5. You're a New Customer

Online or in the real world, if you're a first-time customer in a store, skip the debit card the first couple of times you buy, says Breyault.

That way, you get a feel for how the business is run, how you're treated and the quality of the merchandise before you hand over a card that links to your checking account.

6. Buy Now, Take Delivery Later

Buying now but taking delivery days or weeks from now? A credit card offers dispute rights that a debit card typically does not.

"It may be an outfit you're familiar with and trust, but something might go wrong," says Breyault, "and you need protection."

But be aware that some cards will limit the protection to a specific time period, says Feddis. So settle any problems as soon as possible.

7. Recurring Payments

We've all heard the urban legend about the gym that won't stop billing an ex-member's credit card. Now imagine the charges aren't going onto your card, but instead coming right out of your bank account.

Another reason not to use the debit card for recurring charges: your own memory and math skills. Forget to deduct that automatic bill payment from your checkbook one month, and you could either face fees or embarrassment (depending on whether you've opted to allow overdrafting or not). So if you don't keep a cash buffer in your account, "to protect yourself from over-limit fees, you may want to think about using a credit card" for recurring payments, says Breyault.

8. Future Travel

Book your travel with a check card, and "they debit it immediately," says Foley. So if you're buying travel that you won't use for six months or making a reservation for a few weeks from now, you'll be out the money immediately.

Another factor that bothers Foley: Hotels aren't immune to hackers and data breaches, and several name-brand establishments have suffered the problem recently. Do you want your debit card information "to sit in a system for four months, waiting for you to arrive?" she asks. "I would not."

9. Gas Stations and Hotels

This one depends on the individual business. Some gas stations and hotels will place holds to cover customers who may leave without settling the entire bill. That means that even though you only bought $10 in gas, you could have a temporary bank hold for $50 to $100, says Tiffany.

Ditto hotels, where there are sometimes holds or deposits in the hundreds to make sure you don't run up a long distance bill, empty the mini bar or trash the room. The practice is almost unnoticeable if you're using credit, but can be problematic if you're using a debit card and have just enough in the account to cover what you need.

At hotels, ask about deposits and holds before you present your card, says Feddis. At the pump, select the pin-number option, she says, which should debit only the amount you've actually spent.

10. Checkouts or ATMs That Look 'Off'

Criminals are getting better with skimmers and planting them in places you'd never suspect -- like ATM machines on bank property, says Foley.

So take a good look at the machine or card reader the next time you use an ATM or self-check lane, she advises. Does the machine fit together well or does something look off, different or like it doesn't quite belong? Says Foley, "Make sure it doesn't look like it's been tampered with."

print brush - hand held printer

Printbrush is a handheld printer that remembers its positional coordinates when it is placed on a sheet of paper. Hosting is available to anyone who wishes to have an online presence. However, hosting your own site also means great responsibilities. One of which is to ensure that your server is always updated.

Since management can be a little harder, you are given two options in hosting your own site – managed and unmanaged. With unmanaged server, your host will not be involved in maintaining the server while with managed server, the host will assist you in maintaining and in keeping your server up to date.

But if you think your site needs more power than what a normal host can give, better go for dedicated servers. This means that the service provider will put up a computer exclusively for your website. These servers are offered in either plain installations or with a control panel. Through the control panel, you can easily control and modify most of the server features from a certain web page. Just imagine how website hosting can free you up from worries. With it, you no longer need to think about sharing the hard disk and about CPU restrictions.

Its good news that nowadays, there are lots of companies that offer the server solutions you need. Whether you require a simple one to two server solution, or a multiple load balanced server configuration with custom firewalls, you can always find dedicated individuals or companies to provide you with the services you need. We also have our own dedicated server in the United states of America and are providing Webhosting services in very cheap and reasonable prices. You can also get a special discount paackage if you are a neplese citizen. For full details about the webhosting, its pricing, discount coupons click here. We also offer web designing services for further details contact us.

How to use System Restore to log on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista when you lose access to an account.

The things you are going to read below is extracted from the microsoft support center. I thought this will be usefull to at least some one because this was very help full for me.
This article describes how to use the System Restore feature to log on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista when you lose access to an account.
Note: You must have a System Restore Point created earlier, although the sytem creates restore point itself timely but it is recommended to create a restore point by self timely (although hard disk space is used up while doing this) so that you can restore back your computer back to normal when needed.

If you cannot log on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 System Restore feature. You may be unable to log on to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:
Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you do not remember the password.
Scenario 2: You type the correct logon password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is corrupted.
Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.
Scenario 4: You change a protected administrator account to a standard user account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.
To use System Restore to log on to Windows Vista or Windows 7 when you lose access to an account, follow these steps.
Note: To do this, there must be a System Restore point at which the logon was successful.

1. Insert the Windows Vista or Windows 7 DVD, and then restart the computer.
2. When you receive the following message, press any key:
Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.
3. Set the following preferences, and then click Next:
Language to install
Time and currency format
Keyboard or input method
4. Click Repair your computer, select the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
5. Click System Restore, and then click Next.
6. Click the restore point that you want to use, and then click Next.
Note: Click a restore point that will return the computer to a state where the logon is successful. After you use the System Restore feature, reinstall any programs or updates that may be removed. You will not lose any personal documents. However, you may have to reinstall programs. You may also have to reset some personal settings.
7. Confirm the disks that you want to restore, and then click Next.
8. Click Finish, and then click Yes when you are prompted.
9. When the System Restore process is complete, click Restart to restart the computer.
10. After the computer restarts, click Close to confirm that the System Restore process has finished successfully.
11. Use an appropriate method to log on. For example, log on by using an older password, or log on by using another computer account. After you log on, you must follow additional steps, depending on the scenario that you experience.

Additional steps for scenario 1
1.After you log on, change the password for the protected administrator account.
2.After you change the password, restart the computer. Make sure that you can log on by using the new password.

Additional steps for scenario 2
1.After you log on, make sure that each user account can log on by using the appropriate credentials.
2.Change the password for the user account that cannot log on.

Additional steps for scenario 3
1.After you log on, use the User Accounts item in Control Panel to create a new protected administrator account.
2.Log on by using the new protected administrator account. Then, delete the older protected administrator account that was restored.Note For safety reasons, do not use the restored protected administrator account.

Additional steps for scenario 4
1.After you log on, use the User Accounts item in Control Panel to create a new protected administrator account.
2.Log on by using the new protected administrator account.
Change the old protected administrator account to a standard user account.

THE PROCEESS ILLUSTRATED ABOVE APPLIES TO
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Enterprise
Windows Vista Starter
Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows 7 Enterprise N
Windows 7 Home Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows 7 Home Premium N
Windows 7 Professional
Windows 7 Professional N
Windows 7 Starter
Windows 7 Starter N
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows 7 Ultimate N

Reset and recover vista password

Well guys there are some more tips used in the Vista password recovery. This is a normal ways that a computer user can do very easily. let me remind you that this is not a hack or a crack that uses this is a tricks that is usefull.
Method1. Use Windows Vista installation disk
Insert Window Vista installation disk to the CD-ROM drive, restart your computer. Do the settings under CMOS to boot the computer through CD. When the installation interface appears, click "Repair Your Computer" (repair system) in the subsequent pop-up dialog box, select the "Command Prompt". After the system calls the command prompt window, enter "mmc.exe" and press “Enter”, then the console will be called. Select the file "Add / Remove Administrative Unit", the system will pop up another dialog window once again. In the left side of the dialog window select "Local Users and Groups", and then click "Add". At this point, the system will add "Local Users and Groups" to "Console Node". Click "OK" to complete the adding process. After adding is completed, the system returns to the console interface, click "Local Users and Groups" on the left side of the window, then click "User” and the system will list all the users in the right side of the current window. Right-click the user you are to crack, select "Set Password" in the pop-up "Set Password for Users" dialog box, and click "Continue”. The system pops up a window for you to set a new password. At this point, the Vista system does not require you to enter the previous password, but to set a new password directly. After you enter a new password, click “OK”, and the system will pop up a dialog box, indicating the setting is successful.

Confused with the steps written above then here below you have another method writen that is very easy to use but the problem is that you might have to search for the software and pay some amount for that.
Method2. Use software programs to recover the password
Well, I’m a computer fun and very interested in computer. Then the above methods are very suitable for me, after several settings will do the job. However, there are still some friends who are not familiar with computer settings. What I said above just doesn’t make sense to them, does it? Well these friends are recommended to use computer software tools. Then you don’t have to touch those annoying terms but to follow the instructions with mouse clicking and pressing keys will be OK. Password Reset 6.0 and Windows Password Unlocker 4.0 software available in the internet are just of this kind. They can automatically clear the administrator password and are easy to operate.

Reset n recover window password

Hey the information that is written over here may find some thing old but XP is yet used in numerous computers so i hope that the information will be usefull to some of us.Following information should be used only if its your system and you have forgotten account password. Don't use this information to access a system which is not yours without permission.
Many times we face this problem when we or our friends forget Windows XP password and can't log into Windows. So here i have posted a few methods / utilities which can be used to recover Windows password:
1st Method: The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account ""Administrator"" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type ""Administrator"" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from ""Control Panel -> User Accounts"".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

2nd Method: Windows XP and further versions also provide another method to recover forgotten password by using ""Reset Disk"". If you created a Password Reset Disk in past, you can use that disk to reset the password. To know more about it, please visit following links:
How to create and use a password reset disk for a computer in a domain in Windows XP
How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your Password or Your Password Expires

3rd Method: If the above mentioned tricks don't work, then try following trick which is actually a loophole in Windows XP Setup and a big security hole:
A. Boot using Windows XP Setup CD and follow the instruction like Accepting EULA, etc.
B. When it asks to repair your existing Windows installation, accept it and press ""R"" to run the repair.
C. Setup will start repairing your Windows and will start copying files, etc.
D. After a few minutes setup will restart your system and when it restarts don't press any key when it shows ""Press any key to continue..."" otherwise Setup will start from the beginning. Don't press any key and setup will resume where it left.
E. Now it'll start doing other tasks and will show a small progressbar with a few details in left side.
F. Look carefully at the details and when it shows ""Installing devices"", press <shift>+F10 keys in your keyboard.
G. It'll open a Command Prompt window. Now type nusrmgr.cpl and press <enter>.
H. It'll open the same ""User Accounts"" window which you see in Control Panel.
I. Now you can remove or reset any account password without any problem.

4th Method: If all fails, then simply reinstall Windows and create new accounts. To recover lost data, you can use Data recovery tools available on net but the chances will be very low to get data back.

That's all I can suggest. If you have any other method / tool, feel free to post here.

Finding IP address in Hotmail

Hotmail has been integrated with Windows Live, or vice-versa. And the format has changed. Here is how you find the IP address of the sender.

1. Log into your Hotmail/Windows Live account with your username and password.

2. Click on the Inbox link on the left.

3. Under the column that says "Sort by", find the email that you want to track and right-click on it. You should get a menu that has something like Mark as read, Mark as unread, and so on. The last option in the menu should be View message source. Select it.

4. you should see the email headers now.

5. The email comes with headers that carry important information that can tell where the email was sent from and possibly who sent it. For that, you would need to find the IP address of the sender. The tutorial below can help you find the IP address of the sender.

Note that this will not work if the sender uses anonymous proxy servers.

Also, note that if you receive an email sent from a Gmail account through the web browser, you may not be able to find the real IP address because Google hides the real IP address of the sender. However, if someone sends you a mail from his/her Gmail account using a client like Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail, you can find the originating IP address.

Lets begin this. First of all, the IP address is generally found in the headers enclosed beween square brackets, for instance, [129.130.1.1]
steps involved in the tracking is stated in seperate links .

Wireless outdoor speaker

Spending all your summer evenings in the garden, eating barbecue with some friends is always fun. It's always nice to have a little background music and that's what the next gadget is built for. A Google search alone brings up 5,740,000 results! Each company seems to offer the same service so what should you look for, and which company do you choose? The most important thing is to make sure that when you register a domain, YOU are the owner. It is a common mistake to allow the person or company who registers it for you to be the owner. If you do not own the domain, it can be difficult if you ever want to move to a new hosting company. The good news is that there is a resource online called “whois” that can identify the domain owner. If you discover that you don’t own your domain, you should work to get that fixed right away.If you are not 100% sure if you own the domain, go to http://www.whois.com/ right now. When you get to the site, click on the words that say “WhoIsLookUp” located in blue above the search bar. You will be able to see all of the contact information related to the registrant. If you are using multiple words in your domain name, think about inserting a "-", between the words. For example, domainnameregistrationtipsus.com is an awful lot more difficult to read, recognize and to remember, than domain-name-registration-tips-us-com. By definition, bandwidth is the amount of data that passes through a certain connection over a period of time. Its unit of measurement is bits-per-second or bps, while it can also be measured in megabits per second, or mbps. This term is interchangeable with data transfer allowance.
Web hosting provider put a high regard to bandwidth because as the web hosting client, you need to see to it that the amount of data transferred is acceptable, because this will help determine how much data is allowed for your website. The transfer allowance is basically the amount of allowable data transferred between your website and the people accessing your website. Now the million dollar question is: how do you determine the amount of transfer allowance that your website needs? If you want to know, you should take a good look at the actual data transfer created by your website.
To cite an example, if your website has 5 pages, then each page is approximately 50 kb. This means that if a user will take a look at one page of your site then that amounts to 50 kb. If he views 5 pages then that's 50 kb multiplied by 5 (pages) which makes it 250 kb. If you have around a hundred visitors in a day and they view all your web pages, then that is about 25,000 kb or 24.41 megabytes. If you multiply this amount with 30 (number of days in a one month period), then that is the transfer allowance or the bandwidth you will need per month. Take note that there should still be extra room for other things which require data allowance, such as emailing, utilizing FTP, and uploading. So you see, getting a good understanding of the bandwidth your site needs will surely help smoothen the flow of traffic to your website.

Registering a domain name

There are two basic steps to getting your site online. Registering a domain name is the first step in it.A domain is the address of your site and ends with .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, .tv and many other. .Once you have registered your name, you will select a web host this is refered as the 2nd step. The web host is the guts of any website because this is where you create and publish your pages, build order forms, add functionality and maintain your site.

Selecting the Best Domain Name:

If being found in the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.) is important to you, it is highly recommend that you register a name that contains your major keywords instead of your company name. You need to once think about it. The average surfer searches by subject, not by proper name. So you'll want to choose a name that includes keywords that your target audience would likely use when they search. So with that in mind, a name that has the keywords would be much better .Sure, you can still list your company name on your web pages, but believe it's more important to make sure the domain name includes your important "search friendly" keywords if you want to receive traffic from all over.Of course, you can still list your company name on the web site some place, but your domain name will include all the important keywords you'll want to be found with.

HP Mini 311 Netbook

HP is about to add a new netbook to its range, with the launch of the HP Mini 311 Netbook.
The HP Mini 311 will come with an 11.6 inch LCD display, and will come with NVIDIA’s ION platform, which will include an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and a 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard drive.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380523133177232850" style="DISPLAY: block; Most of you use the facebook. Here i am revealing some facts i gatherd about the Facebook.

While the company began it was as the pet project for a group of Harvard students, today the company has an office in New York. Facebook has more than 350 employees, and the benefits package sounds pretty sweet. It includes:
*Medical, dental and vision health plans with no premiums
* 401(k) plan
* Four weeks vacation and eight company holidays
* Free catered breakfast, lunch and dinner every day
* Dry cleaning and laundry services
* An IBM Thinkpad or Apple MacBook Pro -- employee's choice

Facebook's popularity continues to grow day by day. The company claims that it has more than 57 million active members -- users who have logged onto Facebook over the last 30 day period -- on the site. Since January 2007, the average number of new registrations per day is 250,000. Facebook says that the number of active users doubles every six months. Members from the United States account for most of Facebook's population, followed by members in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Facebook also claims to be the No. 1 image-sharing service on the Internet, drawing more traffic than the second-, third- and fourth- place sites combined. In terms of image numbers, this means that Facebook receives more than 14 million uploaded images every day. Because there's no limit on how many images a member can upload and new members arrive at Facebook every day, this number will likely continue to rise exponentially.

Since June 2007, when Facebook first allowed third-party developers to create applications, developers have debuted more than 7,000 programs on the Facebook platform. Every day, developers introduce another 100 applications to the site. Facebook estimates that more than 80 percent of all members have used at least one third-party application.

Because it is so popular and heavily trafficked, Facebook requires massive amounts of storage space, both in a digital and physical sense. According to one Facebook employee, the company relies on around 200 memcached servers for production (day-to-day operation of the site) and a few more for developmental purposes . "Memcached" stands for memory caching, a method of temporarily storing data. A memcached server temporarily stores information in the server's memory, reducing the need to search a database for information. This decreases the amount of time it takes between a request for information and the delivery of that data.
Facebook also uses custom-built servers for back-end operations and a monitoring system to keep track of all the servers. Servers take up space, so Facebook leases facilities from vendors for server storage. In 2007, Facebook signed an agreement with DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) to lease 10,000 square feet of space in an Ashburn, Va., storage center [source: Data Center Knowledge].

So how does Facebook make enough money to cover its expenses? It generates some revenue by selling web advertising space, but the majority of its funding comes from private investors. According to Facebook, it has received more than $40 million in funding since it launched in 2004.Isn't that interesting.

Sony Unveils DVDirect VRD-MC6 DVD Recorder

It was about the time that someone comes up with standalone device for easy transfer and recording of all those high-definition and standard-definition home videos and digital photos to DVD discs. Why all the hype about this particular model? Well, it is Sony and that alone brings big expectations regarding features and indeed, VRD-MC6 is really unique for couple of reasons. If you are, well it’s time you check on some digital gadgets that are designed to hold and display photos beyond your expectations. Traditional photo frames have very limited uses. They can only accommodate one, two, or more smaller photos and can be viewed in just one angle. So, why settle on them if you can find a gadget that functions beyond share and display? A digital gadget like the Sony DPF-D72N/BQ 7-Inch LCD Digital Photo Frame.

Featuring a 7-inch LCD display with 800×480 resolutions, this digital photo frame from Sony allows you to share not just one but up to 2000 photos with its 1GB internal memory capacity. Insert a separate SD, MS, CF, or XD card on its multi card slot, and you’re off displaying more photos than you have ever imagined. The frame has been improved too. It features an auto image rotation so your friends and family can look at your photos not just in one angle but at different view modes.

Which Is The Best GPS?

You're looking for the best GPS money can buy, so long as that money isn't going to break the bank. Have a great Labor Day Weekend all!

If you've ever failed "Green Grass and High Tides" just because your overdrive wouldn't activate, no matter how hard you shook the controller or cursed, Madcatz has a new accessory that could put an end to your woes. The Stomp Box is modeled after an effects pedal and activates your overdrive when you, as the name would suggest, stomp on it. Coincidentally, it unleashes a wave of "I feel awesome" endorphins at the same time. The Stomp Box connects to your Rock Band guitar or bass controller with the included 10' cable. It would almost be worth grabbing one of these just so that my friends stop complaining that the guitar is broken. I would miss those moments of frantic terror, though, when someone realizes they're about to fail and starts wildly jumping up and down to save themselves during a solo. Madcatz claims the unit features "durable, long-lasting construction," but I would have to see how it holds up during the chorus of "More Than a Feeling" before I could back that claim. Works with PS3, 360 and Wii versions of Rock Band.

Super-Tiny USB Keyboard- size does matter

Until we figure out how to transfer our words into computer in some more high tech and efficient way, good old typing keyboard is here to stay. ExtremeFFS is a next generation, patented flash management system. With the capability of accelerating random write speeds up to 100x in existing systems, Extreme FFS will feature in SanDisk’s products in 2009. ExtremeFFS incorporates a non-blocking architecture in which all the NAND channels behave independently, enabling some to write, while others read and collect garbage. ExtremeFFS also offers intelligent learning for user patterns, and localizes data to maximize the products endurance and performance.

Solid state drives do not have any moving components, and since their predecessors (hard drives) speed is measured in revolutions per minute, they needed a way to gauge the speed of an SSD. This fueled the creation of vRPM, virtual RPM. vRPM accurately and easily allows customers/consumers to compare SSDs to HDDs when used in PCs. It has been predicted that SSD net performance next year will be more than four times faster than current solid state drives and almost six times faster than the latest 2.5" HDDs.
In addition to virtual RPM, SanDisk also announced LDE, or Long-Term Data Endurance. LDE simplifies endurance as a useful number, which would be the first actual metric data of long term endurance. You can compare it to measuring tread wear on a tire. LDE represents the total amount of data writes allowed in the lifespan of a SSD. SanDisk believes other companies should take note and follow suit.

Corsair’s 128GB Flash Voyager GT

Corsair released their Flash Voyager GT USB flash drive with a 128GB of storage capacity. I mean, why on earth do they have to talk so loud? Want to just smash their cellphone into millions of pieces? Now there's a better solution: the cell phone jammer. Sure it's been around for a while, but this one is really cool because it's portable and actually works. Not much bigger than an iPhone, it will silence any cellphone for about 32 feet in all directions. It is able to block the following frequencies: GSM850, EGSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, CDMA800, WCDMA/CDMA2000, PHS, DECT and 3G.Even though the battery only lasts for about 1.5 hours, it's long enough to jam most annoying conversations.

Spy Camera Watch 8GB

This mini spy video camera disguised as a watch has a rechargeable Li-ion battery, microphone and 8GB of built-in storage that can be used as a flash drive. It just sits there, a square piece of plastic, not even appearing to be anything the slightest bit interesting. After spinning the little box, it reveals a total of 4 USB ports that were previously concealed. It’s a neat little trick, there’s not a ton of point behind it, but it keeps things interesting. You could justify it by saying when the ports are tucked away it keeps them protected. However, for those that are willing to give the cheaper drive a chance, you might want to check out this USB Fingerprint Security Lock Flash Disk.

The very first Lighter Phone

Although I fully admit to chuckling quite a bit after first seeing this cellphone with a built-in cigarette lighter, I can see some practicality with it. After all, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard of my smoking friends losing their lighter. I’ve been asked numerous times if I happen to have a lighter on me, despite that they’re fully aware I don’t smoke. Having a lighter built into your cellphone would come in incredibly handy. After all, your phone is almost always somewhere within reach.

Windows 7 wait is over

I've been desperately waiting for Microsoft Windows 7 final(previously codenamed Vienna/Blackcomb) since past few months use of it's beta version. Finally the wait is over. Windows 7 is gonna be available on Oct 22nd,2009 in different flavors. I didn't realize before why Microsoft has been doing this like serving different version of their ultimate product but considering the fact that many people won't be using the same hardwares and features, I see the clue. You can't have feature-rich full blown Windows 7 on your netbook with limited resource. But people have like "I need Windows 7, no matter what" mentality. Besides, you may not want to end up paying for unneeded features with a feeling "Gosh, I never needed this stuff, MS ripped me off". Literally, there are many many aspects to take care of and with what Microsoft doing is and has been doing seem perfectly okay. It is trying to reach as many end users as possible and that I guess is excellent marketing approach.
